Loading and Activation

The apps on Google Play and the App Store exist, but there are serious difficulties in getting to them from the browser version, because very often clicking on the appropriate button in the “Mobile App” section leads nowhere: the page with the link hangs at the “Verbinden…” stage. Therefore, it is better to look for the app directly in the online stores.
Further, the Android app on Google Play is either not recognized by the device, or is recognized, but not downloaded without giving any reason. Deribit still recently continued to work on the Android app, probably it is not fully functional and it is difficult to download it from Google Play. On the platform there is an .apk file, which is positioned as an alternative way to download the application.

It should be noted that if you click on “Alternative Android download”, then no new page opens, no warnings appear, the .apk starts downloading immediately to the folder Download computer. Therefore, it is better to connect your smartphone beforehand, so that you can immediately transfer the file to it.

Such a file is easily unzipped, downloaded, and activated on your Android device. When the file is downloaded, the login service is displayed, giving you a choice of two login options: by fingerprint or by pin code. But the fingerprint scanning feature doesn’t work. This opens a page with two options in the upper corners: Accounts and Add Account. And there is another problem: when you start an app downloaded via apk, it may start updating. It can go through without difficulty, but it often flies into Google Play and tries to open through it. But, as described above, downloading the app from the online store is problematic. As a result, the update does not happen, the app does not work. From the iOS App Store the app is downloaded without any problems. But the result is the same as with Android: without a verified account and API keys it is impossible to activate it, QR-code is not provided. In general, we can say that the Deribit app is implemented at all stages is not very friendly and it is better to continue to work in the browser version. Or you can work not in the application, but in the browser version in the smartphone. These versions differ only in the structure of the sections.

Working in an application

The activated application is easy to understand after working in the browser version. The language switch is located in the upper right corner. Immediately after the account is activated and confirmed, the default monitor displays the service of buying and selling open-ended futures BTC limit orders.

Above the designation of order types, there are sections on the characteristics of the BTC asset, the account report, and a button to go to the price chart. The chart does not unfold on the entire monitor, but the trend line itself can be expanded on the touch screen with the fingers. All sections can be opened through drop-down menus.

In the upper left corner, three lines indicate the entrance to the menu of exchange sections. By clicking on it, the user can select the desired section in the drop-down menu. “Knowledge base” is in the menu of the section “Details”, it is similar to the browser version and also partially translated from English. You can make changes to your account settings, customize the interface, and generate keys in the “My Account” section of the drop-down menu. The “Subaccounts” subsection leads to the page for creating new accounts. A new subaccount is created by clicking “Add new subaccount”, without warning or explanation.

To the right of the three lines icon is a switch for the base cryptocurrencies. The desired token is selected in the drop-down menu. If you click on the selected cryptocurrency, the monitor will display information about futures and options on this coin. Options trading is presented in the application similarly to the browser version, in the form of a table. Buying and selling an option is activated by clicking on the line with the selected asset in the table.
