good resource, but not without flaws

Book Outlet is kind of like a thrift store for books — you never know exactly what you’re going to get, and the experience is a mix of treasure hunting and mild disappointment. I’ve placed a few orders now, and while I definitely saved money, there were a couple of things that made me go “eh.”
First off, the prices are excellent. I got six books for around $30, which is wild considering that would barely buy me two paperbacks at full price elsewhere. I bought a mix of thrillers and historical fiction—some were titles I’d had on my list for a while, others were just impulse buys. The selection is good, especially if you’re not dead set on one specific title.
Now for the not-so-great part: the condition. One of the books I was really excited about arrived with a black marker slash across the bottom. I later learned that’s a remainder mark, which I guess is normal, but it looked like someone attacked the book with a Sharpie. Another had a torn dust jacket, which was disappointing.
I mean, they’re readable, sure, but it doesn’t feel quite as nice when you’re expecting a clean copy. For personal reading, I can deal with it. But I wouldn’t gift these books unless I was wrapping them in a lot of hope and pretty paper.
Also, the website isn’t exactly the smoothest experience. Sometimes it’s hard to filter categories, and the search function can be clunky. But hey, I still manage to find interesting stuff when I have the patience to dig.
Would I recommend it? Yes but with a few warnings. It’s great if you want cheap reads and don’t mind cosmetic flaws. If you’re picky about your books being pristine or you’re planning to give them as gifts, maybe look elsewhere. A good resource, but not without flaws.
